The UK’s vote to leave the European Union will present significant new challenges for the border region.

A number of state agencies aim to help the local population in Monaghan as the process develops. Including Bord Bia, Intertrade Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Monaghan Local Enterprise Office and Monaghan County Council to name just a few.

The actions proposed include steps to help companies preserve their UK presence while also diversifying into other international markets.

In the immediate term, the key impact on Irish exporters is likely to be around exchange rate volatility. Companies should seek financial advice relating to hedging and managing associated risks.

Efforts to support companies respond to the new situation and implement medium term market diversification plans will be supported locally by Monaghan Local Enterprise Office.
