The events of the 1916 Rising changed the course of Irish history and its people right across the country including County Monaghan. There were a number of Monaghan people and those connected with Monaghan who took active part in the Rising and others who were witness to it. Its only now that many of their stories are being told in detail for the first time, by historians and by relatives.<\/p>\n

For these people of Monaghan connections, some just happened to be there at this seminal event, but others, often people from humble backgrounds, were there by choice, fighting for the freedom of their home, their county, their country. This documentary film and the podcast of its soundtrack tells of these connections in an audio visual way.
