In order to avail of this offer, you must be resident in Co. Monaghan.

You must first pay the €140 fee for the lifetime dog licence.

You will receive your lifetime licence when you buy it online or else, a receipt of payment when paying at any of the offices, or by post if paying over the phone.

Take your lifetime dog licence or your receipt along with your dog to any of the participating veterinary practices (see below) in Co. Monaghan. Present your lifetime dog licence or receipt to the veterinary practice and advise them that you wish to avail of the Monaghan County Council free microchipping and registration offer. The vet will retain your licence/receipt.

You will also need to show the veterinary practice your photographic identification e.g. driver’s licence or passport, and a recent utility bill e.g. electricity or phone, so that they can verify who you are. This is legally required as part of the registration process.

The veterinary practice will microchip your dog and will take your details and the description of the dog. This information will be forwarded to an approved database, which will store the information so that if your dog is found straying, it can be reunited with you, and to Monaghan County Council who will use the information to complete your lifetime dog licence.

Monaghan County Council will then post your lifetime dog licence to you.
You should receive your lifetime dog licence within 2 weeks of the date of microchipping.
