In collaboration with Carrickmacross Tidy Towns, we are running 3 bicycle repair workshops to encourage more people to cycle safely and confidently and learn how to look after their bicycle. These workshops help residents learn basic maintenance skills, ensuring their bicycles are roadworthy and long-lasting. By promoting cycling, the Council aims to support healthier lifestyles, reduce carbon emissions, and make sustainable travel a practical choice for everyone in the community.<\/p>

Spring Clean \u2013 April<\/strong><\/p>

National Spring Clean is Ireland\u2019s most popular, well recognized and successful anti-litter initiative. Taking place during the whole month of April, the campaign encourages every sector of society to actively participate and take responsibility for litter, by\u00a0actually conducting\u00a0clean ups in their own local environment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

Monaghan County Council can provide skips free of charge during\u00a0this month, to assist large groups clean up their estate or locality.\u00a0 We offer litter pickers and bags also to groups within the county.\u00a0 To avail of\u00a0these,\u00a0you must be registered with\u00a0www.nationalspringclean.org.<\/a><\/p>

In 2025, 5,250 groups registered to carry out clean-ups throughout the country – Volunteers who participated in the Spring Clean 2025 collected an estimated 2,700 tonnes of litter.<\/p>

Registrations for National Spring Clean 2026 <\/strong>are now open!<\/strong><\/p>

On the National Spring Clean website<\/a>, you will get lots of really useful information, including how to organize an event and other initiatives.<\/p>

For National Spring Clean month, April 2026, we are delighted to announce that we are running a clean-up competition.<\/p>

All you have to do is to be registered with National Spring Clean via their website, take a photo of a clean-up site, before and afterwards, and send it to us with a one page report on how you completed the project.\u00a0 The winning entry will receive a cash prize of \u20ac500!\u00a0 Submit your entries by Friday 15th<\/sup> May, 2026.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>
