{"id":1188,"date":"2024-10-07T15:11:06","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T14:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/monaghan.ie\/finance\/?page_id=1188"},"modified":"2025-02-11T16:10:38","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T16:10:38","slug":"property-transfer-duty","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/monaghan.ie\/finance\/property-transfer-duty\/","title":{"rendered":"Property Transfer Duty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Duty on owners\/ratepayers in relation to a transfer of property.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Section 11 of the Act places:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An obligation on property owners, or their agents, to notify the Local Authority where an interest in a rateable property is transferred and the person liable for rates changes.<\/li>\n<li>The person transferring the property, either the owner or occupier, must discharge all rates for which he\/she is liable at the date of transfer.\n<ul>\n<li>property owner, or their agent, must let Monaghan County Council know where an interest in a rateable property is transferred or sold (Section 11 of the Local Government Rates &amp; Other Matters Act 2019 refers).<\/li>\n<li>The person transferring the property, either the owner or occupier, must pay all rates that are due at the time of the transfer\/sale. If you fail to notify Monaghan County Council of a change in interest within 10 working days of the transfer date, this may result in a penalty for non-compliance in that, the owner becomes liable for an amount which is equivalent to the level of outstanding rates (up to a maximum of 2 years liability).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Duty on owners\/ratepayers in relation to a transfer of property.
