This should only take a couple of minutes but it could mean the difference between life and death.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walk around your home and:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-183 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/monaghan.ie\/firebuildingcontrol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2016\/11\/Checklist.jpg\" alt=\"checklist\" width=\"243\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unplug all unnecessary electrical appliances and turn off all unnecessary gas appliances.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure all candles and naked flames are extinguished.<\/li>\n<li>Place a fireguard in front of any open fire.<\/li>\n<li>Empty all ashtrays.<\/li>\n<li>Check all escape routes are clear of obstructions.
