The \u201cThis Place Owns me\u201d quote is taken from an interview given by Eugene McCabe in 1994. The full quote is \u201c<em>This place owns me. It has it\u2019s tentacles round me, round my heart, my brain, my blood<\/em>\u201d. He was talking about his beloved Drumard, just out the road from the site of the mural, but we\u2019ll proudly apply it to Clones too.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3296 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/monaghan.ie\/museum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/12\/This-place-owns-me.jpg\" alt=\"This Place Owns Me\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The images in this mural were inspired by photos in the O\u2019Dea Collection in the National Library of Ireland. James P O\u2019Dea travelled the country recording the railways before their dismantling and there are many very moving photos of Clones and the wider region available to view online at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.NLI.ie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.NLI.ie<\/a><\/strong>. There are Clones men shown as well as views depicted is those photos, including Sean McPhillips, Kevin McCusker, Dick Nicholl and Peter Fitzsimmon.
