Monaghan County Council is urging everybody to conserve water whenever possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By conserving water we can:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduce the cost of producing water<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the environmental impact on our rivers<\/li>\n<li>Save energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To find our how we can play our part and conserve water in our homes have a look at our guidelines below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>In The Kitchen:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always turn your taps off tightly so they don\u2019t drip. A leak of just one drop per second can waste 10,000 litres of water a year!<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t run water continuously while washing dishes<\/li>\n<li>Only use dishwashers and washing machines when you have a full load.<\/li>\n<li>Keep a bottle of water in the fridge, instead of running the tap for a cold glass of water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In The Bathroom:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install a low-flush toilet (uses 6L or less) or fit a water saving devise in your cistern like a hippo bag<\/li>\n<li>Have a shower instead of a bath<\/li>\n<li>Install low-flow shower heads<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the water while brushing your teeth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In The Garden:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a water butt to collect rain water from your downpipe to water your plants and garden<\/li>\n<li>Sweep driveways instead of using a power washer.
