Local and European Elections – Deadline for Registering to Vote
Are you on the register of electors?
European Parliament and Local Elections
Friday 7th June 2024
You can check online at www.checktheregister.ie or at the offices of Monaghan County Council.
If not, there is time to apply for inclusion on the register in order to vote.
To vote you must be:
- Ordinarily resident at the address at which you want to register
- 18 years of age on polling day
Irish Citizens and EU Citizens can vote at the European Parliament and local elections.
Non-EU Citizens can vote at the local elections.
If your name is not on the register of elections or you need to update your details, you can submit an online application at www.checktheregister.ie. You can also submit an application form to Monaghan County Council, Register of Electors, County Offices, The Glen, Monaghan. Relevant application forms are available from Monaghan County Council, or they can be downloaded from www.checktheregister.ie.
Completed applications must be received by Monaghan County Council by Monday 20th May 2024.
EU citizens other than Irish Citizens must in certain cases complete a separate statutory declaration form EP1 in order to vote at the European Parliament elections. This form is available from Monaghan County Council or from www.checktheregister.ie.
Postal Voters and Special Voters
Completed applications to be on the Postal Voters and Special Voters lists must be received by Monaghan County Council by Saturday, 11th May 2024.
