BorrowBox content update

There has been HUGE demand for Borrowbox over the last few days. You may find when you log on that many of the titles have been borrowed but please bear with us as lots of new content is being added this week to keep up with demand. Quick tip – click in to view ‘All Releases’ rather than just viewing what’s on the home page as those ones are the first to go! If you aren’t already a library member but would like to avail of our complimentary online resources you can join online at https://lgma.iii.com/selfreg . The requirement to visit a branch Library with ID has been waived in light of the circumstances we find ourselves.

Call for participants for new Dementia Focused activity @ Carrickmacross Library.

Monaghan County Libraries have recently received funding for a state-of-the-art piece of technology which has been specifically designed for those suffering with Dementia.  This ‘Magic Table’ will be installed in Carrickmacross Library and a programme of activity based on its use is currently being developed.

The Magic Table is an award-winning innovation from the Netherlands, which is renowned for its cutting-edge approach to dementia care. The technology has been designed to help those at a later stage of their dementia journey to be more active and to create moments of happiness. It consists of a series of interactive games that are projected onto a table. The light games encourage players to reach out towards them and the lights subsequently respond to their hand and arm movements, allowing the users to play with light.

If you have a loved one who you feel would benefit from participating in this programme which will run for 6 weeks beginning Wed 26th Feb @ 10am, please get in touch with Carrickmacross Library by dropping in to speak to library staff or call 042 9661148.  Numbers will be limited.
