Temporary Closing of Roads – To Facilitate: Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following roads in the Municipal District of Ballybay- Clones in County Monaghan:

Date of Closure:              Sunday 17th March 2024

 Times:                                (i) 1pm to 2.30pm and (ii) 1pm to 4pm  

To Facilitate:                    Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

 

Road Closed: (i) 1pm to 2.30pm

  1. R183 Clones Road between junction with L6290 at Killeevan National School and junction with R189 Main Street.

 

Road Closed: (ii) 1pm to 4pm

  1. R189 Main Street between junction with R183 Clones Road and junction with LP2222 Scotshouse Road.

                                           

 

Diversion Routes:

 

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via R183 Clones Road, R183 Analore Street, R183 O’ Duffy Street, N54 Monaghan Road, N54 Clones Road and R189 Threemilehouse/Newbliss Road.

 

Southbound traffic and westbound traffic at junction of R189 Main Street with R183 Clones Road will be diverted via R189 Threemilehouse, N54 Clones Road, N54 Monaghan Road, R212 Scotshouse Road, L2220 – L2221 – L2222 Scotshouse/Newbliss Road.

 

Westbound traffic and northbound traffic at Lower Main Street, Newbliss will be diverted via L2222 – L2221 – L2220 Newbliss/Scotshouse Road, R212 Scotshouse Road and N54 Monaghan Road.

 

 

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

 

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned roads with the Roads Department, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 5th March 2024.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

  5. N54 Monaghan Street between R868 Fermanagh Street and crossroads of N54 with R183 O’ Duffy Street and R183 98th Avenue.

 

Roads Closed: (ii) 19:00hrs to 21:00hrs.

  1. L2800 Lower Fermanagh Street, L2800 Church Hill and L2800 Millbrook Upper between R183 98th Avenue and junction of L2800 Millbrook Upper with L2100 Lacky Road.

 

Diversion Routes:

N54 Eastbound traffic will be diverted via U9143 Clonfad Road, A34 Clones Road, R183 Newtownbutler Road and R183 98th Avenue.

N54 Westbound traffic will be diverted via R183 O’ Duffy Street, R183 Analore Street, L2820 Abbey Street and L2821 Ball Alley Street.

ROAD WORKS: Glen Road R162

Monaghan County Council have appointed a contractor to construct a new culvert across the Glen Road as part of an overall phased approach to the replacement of the Monaghan Town Culvert.

The new culvert across the Glen Road is being supported on a piled foundation and the proposed works will be divided into two phases

Phase 1 consists of the culvert works are on the western side of the Glen road and Phase 2 will see the completion of the culvert on the Eastern side as far as the proposed Aldi site boundary. As part of these works a section of the boundary wall with the St Louis Convent grounds will be demolished and rebuilt on a piled foundation.

As part of the Monaghan Town Culvert upgrade the Glen Road will be reduced to two lanes from the 26th of February until November 2024 to facilitate construction works. The traffic management setup will allow for school drop offs and pickups, however please note that traffic delays are likely. Please note the attached Traffic Management Plans are subject to change.

Road Closed:                    LP-2000 (“Roads will be closed for a three week period during this advertised closure period to all of the ads.”)

 

 

Diversion Routes:

Traffic wishing to proceed South bound on the LP-2000 will be diverted via the

LP-1012 to Ballinode and then via the LP-2010 to Scotstown Village.

 

Traffic wishing to proceed Northbound on the LP-2000 will be diverted via the

LP-2010 to Ballinode and then via the LP-1012  to the LP-2000.

Traffic wishing to proceed Southbound on the LT-14021 will be diverted West via the LT-14201 and then South on the LP-1420 and then diverted in the townland of Coolmuckbane and then proceed East on the LP-1401 back to the LT-14021.

Traffic wishing to proceed Northbound on the LT-14021 will be diverted West on the LP-1401 and in the townland of Coolmuckbane and then be diverted North on the LP-1420 and then proceed East via the LT-14201 back to the LT-14021.
