Monaghan County Council is inviting expressions of interest from members of the community who wish to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of our county by becoming a member of the Monaghan Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP).

Established under the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 and the Safety Partnership Regulations 2025, this initiative brings together representatives from local authorities, An Garda Síochána, the HSE, Tusla, and community stakeholders to work collaboratively in addressing safety concerns and promote a safer Monaghan for all.

The establishment of the LCSP’s nationwide is a key element of the government’s community safety policy, which recognises that different localities have different challenges and needs, and therefore require bespoke approaches and interventions to help people feel secure. The LCSP’s replace the previous Joint Policing Committees.

Membership of the Local Community Safety Partnership will also include seven Elected Members. The members will have a crucial role to play in the Partnerships, not only in representing the needs and concerns of their constituents, but also in communicating the issues, priorities and interventions of the Safety Partnership to the broader council and the public.

The Council is now seeking individuals who represent local community and voluntary bodies, community interests, or who possess relevant experience or expertise in areas such as public safety, youth engagement, social services, or community development. Members will play a vital role in shaping local safety strategies, advising on community needs, and fostering partnerships that enhance public trust and cohesion.

The partnership will consist of up to 30 members and will meet at least six times annually to carry out its functions. Members will be appointed for a term of up to three years, with eligibility for reappointment. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on community safety, working alongside a diverse group of stakeholders committed to enacting positive change.

If you want to help form the future of safer communities in Monaghan, you are encouraged to submit your expression of interest. The closing date is Friday 19th September 2025.
