Monaghan County Council Pays Tribute to Councillor Coyle

It is with great sadness that Monaghan County Council has learned of the death of Councillor Seamus Coyle.

Councillor Coyle was first elected to Monaghan County Council in June 2004 and has served the people of Monaghan and his own Municipal District area of  Ballybay/Clones with dedication and distinction and was a valued member of Monaghan County Council. Throughout his 22 years in public office, Councillor Coyle worked tirelessly on behalf of the local community and made a significant contribution to local government and public service.  Cllr Coyle served as Cathaoirleach of the County on two occasions during his career and was the current Cathaoirleach of Ballybay/Clones Municipal District.

Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council, Cllr Aidan Campbell, led the tributes to Cllr Coyle, stating “On behalf of the elected members and staff of Monaghan County Council, I wish to express our deepest sympathies to Councillor Coyle’s family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time. Councillor Coyle was a committed public representative who gave generously of his time and energy in service to the people of Monaghan and his Municipal District area of Ballybay/Clones.  His contribution to our council and community will be remembered with gratitude and respect.”

Acting Chief Executive Carmel O’Hare added, “Councillor Coyle was highly respected by fellow elected members and staff alike. He demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the lives of those he represented and made an enduring contribution to the development of our county and local communities. His passing is a great loss.”

The thoughts and prayers of the elected members and staff of Monaghan County Council are with Councillor Coyle’s family and loved ones at this sad time.
