What We do
Monaghan Civil Defence plays a very important role in assisting the front line services with trained personnel to respond to emergencies in addition to supporting and facilitating community activities.
Our Members bring their own talents into the organisation and learn new skills which in turn are used to serve the communities they live in.
We support the frontline emergency services in dealing with severe weather, flooding, major accidents and searching for missing people. Civil Defence supports hundreds of community events throughout the year. These include large events such as air shows, tall ships, concerts, festivals and sports events. We also support smaller local events such as parades.
We have 5 core services:
Our role is to act as a secondary response agency, backing up the Garda, HSE-Ambulance service, and Fire service in time of need, for example when there are severe weather events and gorse fires.
