These rates are subject to review on an ongoing basis.

In addition to the above rates per annum fire-fighters can be paid an hourly rate(s) for their attendance at drills, training and attendance at fire-calls.

Candidates shall hold an honours degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) or equivalent professional qualification in Engineering, have at least seven years satisfactory experience of engineering works including for a period of not less than four years satisfactory experience in civil engineering work, be capable of dealing efficiently with the range of engineering work undertaken by a local authority, and possess a high standard of technical training and experience and of administrative experience.
