Spring into reading and put your feet up while a robot vacuum cleaner does your housework!
Monaghan County Libraries are excited to announce a new reading initiative designed to help busy adults reconnect with their love of reading. The “Spring Into Reading” challenge is to read at least four library books before 23 April 2025 to be in with a chance to win a robotic vacuum cleaner. The winner will be rewarded with the gift of time for more reading as the robot will tackle one of the most common barriers to reading for pleasure – housework.
“We often hear that adults want to read more but struggle to find the time between work and lots of other responsibilities,” said Deirdriú McQuaid, County Librarian. “This challenge offers a practical solution by helping the winner to free up time and make reading a daily priority.”
All entrants will be given a ‘Spring into reading’ card which they will use to enter the draw. You can enter multiple times so the more you read the more chances there are to win.
While not everyone will win a robot, everyone who gets involved will benefit from the proven benefits of reading for pleasure regularly – improved empathy, improved relationships with others, reduced symptoms of depression, reduced symptoms of dementia and improved wellbeing throughout life.
The challenge is open to all members of Monaghan County Libraries aged 18 and older. Not a member? Don’t worry, you can sign up for free at any branch library. Just bring along your photo ID and proof of address and pick up a library card immediately.
How to enter: Visit the library and ask to join the challenge at the desk.
