ITOA AGM Brings Spotlight to the Importance of Regional Tourism and Sustainability Initiatives

The Inbound Tourism Operators Association of Ireland (ITOA) held its AGM on January 24th at Castle Leslie Estate, Monaghan. The association, now with 33 members, delivered over 713,000 overseas visitors into the island of Ireland in 2025. Tourists handled by ITOA members spent over €665 million holidaying in Ireland, with approximately 66% of those visitors dispersed around the island of Ireland and the remaining 34% spending their time in the capital city of Dublin.

Industry leaders in attendance included tourism agencies, Tourism Northern Ireland, Failte Ireland, Irish Tourism Industry Confederation – ITIC & Irish Hotels Federation – IHF.

As part of the AGM, members and invited guests spent an afternoon at Monaghan Peace Campus, hosted by Monaghan County Council. The event brought together a wide range of tourism suppliers from across the county, showcasing all that Monaghan has to offer. Close to 20 providers were in attendance, including Brehon Brewhouse, the Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Rally School Ireland, Carrickmacross Lace Gallery and Glaslough Chocolates. Damien and Katie West of Jivin Country also led a jiving session, with members taking to the floor to perfect their steps.

Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and community engagement, ITOA donated €3,000 to the Clones Development Society. The Clones Development Society is a long-serving not-for-profit community development organisation, managed by volunteers since 1995. It offers guided heritage tours, a bistro, a lace museum and a range of other community initiatives. Its mission is to provide both the local community and visitors with a lasting connection to Clones. ITOA is proud to support this work as part of its ongoing sustainability initiatives.

The ITOA extends its gratitude to Brian Baldwin, CEO of Castle Leslie Estate, and Dympna Condra, Tourism Officer with Monaghan County Council, for their support in delivering a successful event.
