Elected Members in Monaghan County Council have adopted the new Corporate Plan for 2024-2029 at the April Council meeting.
VISION: A thriving, entrepreneurial, and vibrant community supported by a prosperous economy and a sustainable environment.
Monaghan County Council has launched a new five-year Corporate Plan, setting out a progressive roadmap for a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for the county. The Plan outlines strategic goals and actions to strengthen the local economy, support community wellbeing, and address key challenges in the years ahead.
The Corporate Plan integrates the objectives of key planning frameworks, including the upcoming County Development Plan and the Local Economic and Community Plan, into a unified strategic approach. It clearly defines the Council’s goals, priorities, and actions, and establishes robust mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating progress toward achieving measurable outcomes.
Developed through extensive consultation with Council management and staff, elected representatives, and the broader Monaghan community, the Plan reflects a collective commitment to serving local needs and responding proactively to emerging challenges.
Aligned with national policies and strategies, the Plan ensures coherence with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Ireland’s Climate Action Plan, and the Public Sector Human Rights and Equality Duty. This alignment is embedded throughout all corporate goals and objectives, reinforcing the Council’s dedication to inclusive, sustainable progress.
At the heart of this Corporate Plan is a deep commitment to local democracy. The Elected Members, along with Strategic Policy Committees, will play a key oversight role, ensuring the executive is held accountable for the successful implementation of the Plan’s strategic actions.
