Under Section 48 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended), all planning authorities must introduce a scheme of Development Contributions. Planning Authorities may, when granting a permission under Section 34 require the payment of a contribution in respect of public infrastructure and facilities in the area of the planning authority, that it is intending to provide or has been provided by it and which will benefit the development, regardless of other sources of funding.
