Variations to the Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025
Variation No 6 (September 2024): The proposed variation comprises of the change of land use zoning of certain lands at Shirley House Lane in the settlement of Carrickmacross from Existing Residential to Town Centre Use. The reason for the proposed variation is in the interest of proper planning and sustainable development.

Variations No 6 Monaghan County Development Plan 2019 – 2025
Variation No 5 (November 2023): To provide for the change of zoning/dezoning of certain lands (22 sites) in the settlements of Monaghan, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clones, Scotstown and Ballinode. The zoning changes result in revised settlement boundaries in six settlements.

Two Year Review of the Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025
Under Section 15 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, Planning Authorities are required to secure the objectives of the Development Plan, and to prepare a report on progress in achieving the objectives of the Plan in the first two years of the making of the Development Plan. A report setting out progress to date in compliance with this requirement and specifically reviewing the progress being made in securing each objective contained within the Development Plan was issued to the elected members on 29th April 2021. Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025
At a meeting of the Council on the 4th of March 2019, the Elected Members, by resolution, made the Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025. The plan comes into effect on the 1st of April 2019. A copy of the Development Plan, Appendix and Environmental Report is available to view on the link below.
The plan contains an overall strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of County Monaghan over the lifetime of the plan.
