Met Eireann have advised MCC in relation to Storm Lorenzo that Monaghan is being placed under a yellow rainfall warning from Thursday 3rd October at 9am until Friday 4th October 6am. Rainfall is forecasted and is expected to be within the range of 8-10mm.
Monaghan County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team (SWAT) continues to monitor local conditions closely as the storm progress and we also wish to advise that Met Eireann has a yellow wind warning is in place across the county from 9am this morning until 6pm this evening. We are being advised by the forecaster that the strongest of the winds are to be expected today between 12 noon and 6pm.
Monaghan County Council advises the public to be vigilant with regards to fallen trees and debris. Surface flooding may arise due to heavy rain and fallen leaves blocking drains and gullies. Therefore we advise property owners to check their drains and gullies for potential blockages.
Motorists are advised to take extra care while driving during stormy weather and only make necessary journeys. Monaghan County Council wish to inform the public that all services are in a state of readiness should they be required.
