Significant Funding Announced for Town and Village Projects Across County Monaghan

Monaghan County Council welcomes the announcement of substantial funding allocations under the 2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme and the 2025 Project Development Measure, supporting regeneration, community facilities, and public‑realm improvements across the county.

2025 Town and Village Renewal Scheme

Carrickmacross – €500,000 Funding has been approved for major streetscape and amenity enhancements along Main Street. The project includes upgraded lighting to highlight historic landmark buildings and the installation of a new public water feature at Market Square, further enhancing the town’s cultural and civic character.

Castleblayney – €300,000 Investment will support the internal fit‑out of the community building at Mindszenty Park. This development will provide shared, accessible indoor facilities for youth, sports, volunteer, and educational groups, strengthening community participation and local services.

Monaghan – €300,000 A new motorhome stopover amenity will be developed, offering electrical hook‑ups, a fully equipped service bay, and associated public‑realm improvements in the wider Greenway area. This project aims to boost tourism and enhance visitor infrastructure in the town.

2025 Project Development Measure

Monaghan / Castleblayney – €50,000 Funding has been allocated for consultancy services to prepare a restoration plan for the historic Walled Garden adjacent to Hope Castle and the Annexe buildings at Lough Muckno Park. This work will guide future conservation and development of this important heritage asset.

Scotstown – €50,000 Support has been approved for detailed designs, surveys, a feasibility study, a public‑realm masterplan, and a road assessment to advance the regeneration of Scotstown’s village green and surrounding public spaces.
