Big Wins for Monaghan Startups SPRYT & Footy Buckets – With a Little Help from Google!

Monaghan innovation is on the map! Two local trailblazers – SPRYT and Footy Buckets – have been making waves nationally and internationally thanks to their recent collaborations with Google.

Footy Buckets – turning old football jerseys into stylish bucket hats – were a winner at the 2025 “You’re the Business” competition, led by Google, Enterprise Ireland & Local Enterprise Offices.

Their prize? A full digital support package including Google AI tools, Workspace, and expert mentoring!

Viral on TikTok & Instagram, Footy Buckets is now working with Sports Direct, Manchester City, and Adidas London to promote circular fashion.

SPRYT – a digital health startup founded by Monaghan’s own Daragh Donohue & Neill Dunwoody – is the 2025 National Enterprise of the Year!

Their AI-powered virtual receptionist, Asa, helps reduce no-shows in healthcare via WhatsApp/SMS – and it’s working (160% increase in NHS pilot engagement)!

SPRYT is also the only Irish startup selected for the Google for Startups Growth Academy: AI for Health, joining 24 global companies shaping the future of healthcare.

SPRYT’s Neill Dunwoody says:

“Being selected by Google is more than an endorsement – it’s a signal that what we’re building with Asa has global potential. This milestone accelerates our path to scaling internationally.”

Huge congrats to both teams and hats off to the Local Enterprise Office Monaghan & Monaghan County Council for backing bold innovation!
