Community Monuments Fund 2025

The Community Monuments Fund (CMF) aims to assist with conservation, research and interpretation of archaeological monuments by communities and private owners.
The scheme is funded by the National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. Grants will help custodians and owners of archaeological monuments to safeguard them into the future for the benefit of communities and the public.
In addition, they will provide support for heritage professions and job opportunities in building conservation and other traditional skills. The core aims of the Community Monuments Fund are the conservation, maintenance, protection and presentation of archaeological monuments.
Funding is available for:
- Conservation works to monuments which are deemed to be significant and in need of urgent support.
- Works to improve access to and presentation of monuments.
- Building resilience into monuments to enable them to withstand the effects of climate change.
Funding is available in three streams
Stream 1 offer grants up to €100,00 for essential repairs and capital works for the conservation and repair of archaeological monuments.
Stream 2 offer grants up to €30,000 for development of Conservation Management Plans/Reports that are aimed at identifying measures for conservation of archaeological monuments and improving public access.
Stream 3 offer grants up to €30,000 for enhancement of access infrastructure and interpretation (including virtual) and small scale emergency conservation works at archaeological monuments.
