Housing Information Day Provides Valuable Guidance

Members of the public turned out in large numbers for the “Your Future, Your Home” Housing Information Day held on Friday 26 June at Monaghan Peace Campus. Organised by EUROPE DIRECT Clones and Monaghan County Council, the event brought together a range of local service providers under one roof, including estate agents, banks, energy efficiency experts, financial advisors and representatives from Monaghan County Council. Members of the public had the opportunity to speak directly with experts and receive guidance on buying, building, retrofitting, and improving energy efficiency in their homes.

The Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council, Cllr Aidan Campbell, officially launched the day and welcomed attendees who ranged from young couples seeking advice on getting on the property ladder to existing homeowners seeking to improve their homes energy efficiency. The Cathaoirleach noted “events like this are vital in helping people access clear, practical information and giving them the confidence to take the next step in their housing journey.”

Chief Executive of Monaghan County Council, Mr Robert Burns, said the initiative reflected the Council’s commitment to supporting sustainable communities, adding that “by bringing together expertise in one place, we are making it easier for people to understand the supports available and make informed decisions about their homes.”

Mr Conal McCrudden, representing EUROPE DIRECT Clones, said the event aimed to connect people with practical supports while also linking local housing needs with wider European initiatives such as the EU Affordable Housing Plan.

Feedback from both attendees and exhibitors was positive, with many praising the opportunity to access a wide range of information in one place.
