Monaghan County Council is delighted that construction commenced in July 2020 on this new and exciting project ‘Monaghan Peace Campus’. This €17.6 million project will provide a new four storey mixed use community building, comprising of a Cultural Heritage Centre, Library, Youth Facility, Shared Community Multi-Functional Space with External Community Space and Underground Parking.

This project is supported by the EU’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)  https://www.seupb.eu/

The financial support provided through the PEACE IV Programme is €9,541,081.

Monaghan County Council submitted an application in October 2021 seeking additional funding and SEUPB granted an additional €3.76million, therefore the revised total grant funding from SEUPB is €13,302,454.17.

Summary of Progress to Date:  Q4 2023 (Oct – Dec 2023)

  • Painting, decorating and tiling nearing completion;
  • Electrical containment (2nd fix) substantially complete;
  • Mechanical Installation (2nd fix) substantially complete;
  • Joinery (2nd Fix) substantially complete;
  • Soft Landscaping substantially complete;
  • Eir & ENET (Utilities) substantially complete;
  • External Railings – Installation substantially complete;
  • Paving of external areas almost complete.

Summary of Works Completed:

  • Level 4 flat roof coverings, insulation and plant guarding complete;
  • Electrical containment (1st fix) on all Levels complete;
  • Mechanical installation (1st fix) on all Levels complete;
  • ESB connection to substation complete;
  • Installation of built in furniture complete;
  • Lift installation completed – final snagging and commissioning commenced;
  • Gas Tank and Gas Boilers installation works complete.

Q1/Q2 January-June 2021

Monaghan Peace Campus Construction site was closed from 8th January 2021 due to Covid19 Public Health Measures & Restrictions. Site re-opened 4th May 2021.

Works completed to date include:

  • Temporary Safety Barriers installed along North Road
  • Culvert and associated chamber installed
  • Level 1 podium ramp structure complete
  • Attenuation tanks cast and precast cover slabs placed
  • Electrical switch room cable trench cast
  • Foundations cast and sub-structure masonry walls built to base of new stone walls at Glaslough St.

 

Works currently ongoing include:

  • Sub-structure works to include pile caps and associated structure foundations
  • Preparation of sub-station floor in progress to receive cable trenches
  • Lift shaft on Level 0 cast and waiting Level 1 deck slab
  • Casting of Pile caps 98% completed
  • Temporary shorting erected to Stage 1 of North Road Retaining Wall
  • Tanking membrane applied to approx. 50% of North Road retaining wall
  • Installation of Storm drainage network ongoing at Level 0

Q4 September-December 2020 

Works completed to date include:

  • Establishment of site compound, office and welfare accommodations.
  • Installation of foundation bearing piles and associated mini pilling.
  • Erection of Tower Crane and associated foundations.


Works currently ongoing include:

  • Casting of foundation pile caps, ground beams and associated stair core foundation slabs.
  • Fixing of reinforcement to pile caps, level 0 structural columns, level 0 podium ramp walls and level 0 stair core walls.
  • Construction of ESB sub-station.
  • Construction of level 0 lift core structure.
  • Construction of 2 nr. Attenuation tank bases.
  • Storm drainage pipework and service ducting.

Q3 July – September 2020 The site is secure and hoarding is erected.  Existing perimeter structures have been demolished. Clearing of site is completed.  A Time Lapse camera has been installed.  Test Piles installed and tested.  Piling is complete.  Contractor has liaised with neighbouring residents and Government Departments.
