Stamped with the insignia of the Monaghan Militia.121 refers to the number of the regiment. One of the most prominent notes in history relating to the Monaghan Militia is in connection with the United Irishmen’s Rebellion, when four members of the Militia were found to be members of the United Irishmen and were executed at Blaris Moor on the 16th of May 1797.
