Road Works Speed Limit Order

Notice is hereby given pursuant to the Road Traffic Act 2004 Section 10 (1) of the Council’s intention to put in place Special Speed Limits for Road Works on the roads listed below in the Municipal District of Ballybay/Clones. The speed limits are being put in place in the interest of road safety to facilitate roadworks.      

50km/h speed limit signs will be in place at the following locations in the Municipal District of Monaghan Townland Name Start Date End Date

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following road in the Municipal District of Ballybay/Clones in County Monaghan:

Date:     Monday 26th June 2023 to Friday 7th July 2023

To Facilitate:      Road Improvement Works

 

Road Closed:

R181 Lough Egish to Shercock Road: For a distance of 3km between its junction with the LP 4040 at Shantonagh to the end of the works at Corraharra.

Diversion Routes:

Northbound traffic travelling from Shercock to Lough Egish will be diverted onto the R178 to Carrickmacross and then onto the R180 to Lough Egish.

Southbound traffic travelling from Lough Egish to Shercock onto the R180 to Carrickmacross and then onto the R178 to Shercock

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

 

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the Roads Department, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 13th June 2023.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

Temporary Closing Of Roads – L-2340 in the townlands of Lisdarragh and Drumaghakeel

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Ballybay/Clones in County Monaghan:

Date of Closure:               Monday 19th June 2023 to Friday 30th June 2023

To Facilitate:                     Bridge Rehabilitation Works 

Road Closed:                     L-2340 in the townlands of Lisdarragh and Drumaghakeel

 

Diversion Routes:

Traffic wishing to travel on the L-2340 in the direction of the R183 will be diverted by remaining on the R189 to Newbliss, then continuing on to the R183.

Traffic wishing to travel on the L-2340 in the direction of the R189 will be diverted by remaining on the R183 to Newbliss, then continuing on to the R189.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access will be catered for. No through road will be available at the bridge works).

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75).

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following road in the Municipal District of Monaghan in County Monaghan:

Date:     Between Monday 26th June 2023 and Thursday 30th November 2023

(The Road may be closed for a maximum of 3 weeks within the Closure Period)

 

To Facilitate:      Road Improvement Works

Road Closed:

LT-10202 Tully Road: For a distance of 1,465m between its junction with the LP 1020 at Derrygassan Lower to the end of the road at Derryhallagh.

 

Diversion Routes:

Northbound traffic travelling from at Derrygassan Lower to Derryhallagh will be diverted onto the LS-5207 and continue West before turning right onto the N2 towards Emyvale and continue to the junction of the LP-1020.  Traffic will turn right and travel east along the LP-1020 Emyvale to Glaslough Road and arrive at Derryhallagh.

Southbound traffic travelling from Derryhallagh to Derrygassan Lower will be diverted left onto the LP-1020 Emyvale to Glaslough and proceed west to the junction with the N2.  Traffic will turn left and proceed along the N2 towards Monaghan to the junction with the LS-5207.  Traffic will turn left and continue east along the LS-5207 and arrive at Derrygassan Lower.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times). 

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the Roads Department, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Wednesday 21st June 2023.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

BALLYBAY TO CASTLEBLAYNEY (B2C) GREENWAY

BALLYBAY TO CASTLEBLAYNEY (B2C) GREENWAY

The Ballybay to Castleblayney Greenway is a proposed 11.5-kilometre walking and cycling path that would connect Ballybay to Castleblayney in Co. Monaghan. In addition to reconnecting these two areas and their associated attractions, it is envisioned that the proposed greenway would improve accessibility to other local attractions in the area, which include Lough Major and Lough Muckno, old railway structures, and the Castleblayney outdoor adventure Centre.

PREFERRED ROUTE OPTION CONSULTATION

The Route Options Selection for the Ballybay to Castleblayney Greenway has now been completed and a Preferred Route Option has been developed.  A Public Consultation will open from the 14th of March 2024, for a period of 4 weeks, to the 11th of April 2024. Maps indicating the Preferred Route can be found below. Landowners, local communities, and the general public are invited to review the Preferred Route and to discuss with the project team.

Pre- Draft Consultation for the Monaghan County Development Plan 2025-2031

On Thursday the 11th of May 2023 , Monaghan County Council published a notice of the intention to review the current Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025 and to prepare a new Monaghan County Development Plan for the period of 2025-2031.

In order to encourage discussion on the key issues facing the County over the next plan period 2025-2031, the Forward Planning team will facilitate drop-in workshops in the five towns in the month of June . Please come along , we want to hear what you think should be included in your new development plan!

NOTICE PUBLISHING COMMENCEMENT OF AUDIT (Monaghan County Council)

Notice is hereby given that the audit of the accounts of the above-named local government organisation for the financial year ended on the 31st day of December, 2022 will be commenced by Martin White Local Government Auditor, on the 16th day of June 2023, in accordance with article 17 of the Local Government (Financial and Audit Procedures) Regulations 2014, objections to any matter or matters contained in the said several accounts will be considered by the Local Government Auditor during the audit.

Written notice of any proposed objection, setting out the relevant particulars and grounds on which it is to be made, should be sent to the above Local Government Auditor at Monaghan County Council within ten days of the commencement of the audit.

The annual financial statement will be available during office hours for the inspection of all persons for a period of seven days before the commencement of the audit.
