Date:        Thursday 17th of March 2022 

Time:         2pm to 6pm

To Facilitate:    St Patrick’s Day Parade

Roads Closed in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross-Castleblayney;

Carrickmacross from the Dundalk Road Roundabout to the junction of the Dundalk / Donaghmoyne Roads at the entrance to the Stedfast Industrial Complex, through Farney Street, onto Main Street as far as Monaghan Street.

Local diversions will be in place

Public Consultation Events ULSTER CANAL GREENWAY PHASE 3

Options Selection for Phase 3 of the Ulster Canal Greenway between Smithborough and Clones has now been developed.  Public Consultation events will be held over the coming weeks for communities along the proposed route.  Landowners, local communities and the general public are invited to review the preferred route drawings, and to discuss with the project team.  The drop-in sessions will be held in;

  1. The Courthouse, Clones, Monday 14th March 6-8pm
  2. Smithborough Community Hall, Wednesday 23rd March  6-8pm

Monaghan Town St Patrick’s Parade 17th March 3pm.

After two years with no Parade, we are all ready to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

Following the cancellation of the St. Patrick’s Day Parades in 2020 and 2021, this year’s festival will make a long-awaited return to the streets of Monaghan with a Parade and family entertainment, so let the celebrations begin with our St Patrick’s Day Parade in Monaghan Town on Thursday, 17th March at 3pm.

Starting point for entrants is the Lower Courthouse Car Park.

The theme this year is Brighter Days Together and participants are asked to incorporate this theme into their entry. Get your entries in as soon as possible to Monaghan Municipal District.

Come and join the parade and be in with a chance of winning a prize for:

  • Best Float/Display (Community),
  • Best Float/Display (Commercial),
  • Best Float/Display incorporating the Irish language
  • Best Window Display,

Local access to the town centre and the Courthouse car park will be via Glaslough Street, Macartan Road and Castle Road.

Mains Flushing to Emyvale Public Water Supply

Mains Flushing to Emyvale Public Water Supply

Irish Water and Monaghan County Council

Monaghan County Council on behalf of Irish Water wish to advise customers that water Mains Flushing (Scouring) will take place from Tuesday 22nd February 2022 to Thursday 3rd March 2022, on the Emyvale Public Water Supply.

The following areas will be affected: Main Street Emyvale, Drummully, Sruth An Mhuillinn, Scarna Court, Market House Lane, Lake View, Ferndale Heights, Oriel Park, Gort An Chaibleara, Corlattallan, Scarnageeragh, Cornacreeve, Carrigans, Creevelea, Coracrinn and Derryhallagh.

Mains flushing is undertaken to improve the quality of water supplied to our customers. Customers in areas where flushing will take place will notice a temporary discolouration to their water but this discolouration will clear when allowed to run for a few minutes.

Customers may also experience reduced pressure and interruptions to their supply for the duration of these works.

We regret any inconvenience caused.

The Register of Electors for the year 2022-2023 has been published and came into force on 15th February 2022.  Any elections / referenda held during 2022 will be based on this Register. If your name has been omitted from the register (which is printed on white paper) although you were eligible for inclusion in it, you can apply now to be included in the supplement to the Register.

Conditions for inclusion to the Supplement are:

  1. be 18 years of age;
  2. be ordinarily resident at the address at which you wish to be registered;
  3. not already registered as an elector except in the case of change of address – if you are not on the register of electors and have moved residence from one constituency to another or within a constituency (different local electoral area) you may also apply for entry to the supplement.  A separate form is available for this purpose.

Ballybay Fire Station Proposed Development

Monaghan County Council hereby gives notice in pursuant to Article 81 (1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) of the following proposed development at Corrybrannan, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan.

The proposed development consists of the construction of a 2-bay fire station (including a training tower) and ancillary accommodation and site works.  The site works include a vehicular access from R162, pedestrian access from eastern laneway, large hardstanding area for training and turning circles, 10 number carparking spaces including disabled space(s), fuel tanks and gas tanks, all service connections and boundary treatments at the site at Corrybrannan, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan.

In accordance with Article 81(2)(ca) and 120(1B)(b)(i) of the above-mentioned regulations, Monaghan County Council, as the competent authority, has concluded from a Screening Determination which is based on an examination of the nature, size and location of the proposed development that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and as such has determined that an EIA is not required.  This screening determination is available for inspection, and at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks from the date of publication of this notice, any person may apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during public opening hours of Monaghan County Council, Planning Section, No. 1 Dublin Street, Monaghan Co. Monaghan (H18 X982) up to and including 21st March 2022. The plans are also available for inspection at Monaghan Fire Station, Annahagh, Co. Monaghan H18 YW81.

Public Realm Enhancement Works at Entrance to Lough Muckno Park

Monaghan County Council wish to notify the public of upcoming works to the main entrance area at Lough Muckno Park in Castleblayney. These works form part of the on-going project to refurbish the Gate Lodge No. 2 building and shall provide for the installation of utility services and pavement enhancement works to the footways, parking bays and roadway in the immediate vicinity of the Park entrance. It is intended that the works shall be undertaken on a phased basis, over a 10-week period, commencing on Monday the 14th of February 2022. The works shall necessitate the closure of the main entrance to vehicular traffic for a 5-week period commencing on Monday the 21st of March 2022. Park patrons may wish to avail of the public carparks located off Thomas Street during this period. Pedestrian access to the Park shall be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Monaghan County Council wish to thank the public for their continued support and cooperation in the delivery of the Gate Lodge No. 2 refurbishment project and apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption the entrance enhancement works may cause.
