Climate Action Week 2026 Poetry Competition

♻️ Act Local: Rethink, Reuse, Repair

CA Poetry Competition

🌿 What does “Act Local: Rethink, Reuse, Repair” mean to you?

Climate Action Monaghan and Monaghan Age Friendly Programme are inviting older adults across County Monaghan to put pen to paper and share their thoughts, experiences and reflections through the Climate Action Week 2026 Poetry Competition.

This year’s competition is inspired by the theme Act Local: Rethink, Reuse, Repair and encourages participants to explore what these words mean in their own lives, communities and environment. Whether inspired by nature, local heritage, community spirit, sustainability initiatives or everyday actions, we want to hear your unique perspective.

🌍 Climate action is not just about global challenges. It is also about the small, positive changes we make in our homes, neighbourhoods and communities. Through poetry, participants are invited to reflect on how we can all contribute to a more sustainable future by rethinking how we live, reusing resources and repairing rather than replacing.

✨ Poetry has the power to inspire, connect people and spark important conversations. This competition celebrates creativity, storytelling and the valuable experiences and insights that older members of our community can share.

🏆 The winning poem will receive a prize, and selected entries may be showcased as part of Monaghan Climate Action Week 2026 celebrations.

💚 Celebrate creativity, sustainability and local action.

📅 Closing Date: 23rd September 2026

🌱 Funded through the Decarbonising Zone (DZ) Demonstrator Fund, supported by the Government of Ireland.
