Climate Action Week 2026 Community Event Grants Scheme Pilot

CAW Poster

Monaghan County Council is launching a Community Event Grant Scheme to support Climate Action Week 2026. This pilot initiative helps local communities deliver events that encourage real, practical climate action.

The theme for Climate Action Week 2026 is “Act Local: Rethink, Repair, Reuse,” highlighting how practical actions can reduce waste, lower emissions, enhance biodiversity, and support more sustainable and resilient communities.

What is the funding for?

Grants of up to €500 per event are available to support community-led events that turn climate awareness into action.

Funding supports:

  • Practical, hands-on climate activities
  • Community events that inspire behaviour change
  • Opportunities for people to learn, connect, and take action

Examples include workshops, biodiversity activities, repair cafés, sustainable food events, and creative climate-focused initiatives.

Why apply?

This scheme supports communities to:

  • Take local climate action
  • Build skills and awareness
  • Strengthen community participation
  • Deliver positive, visible change

Who can apply?

  • Community and voluntary groups
  • Tidy Towns groups
  • Residents’ associations
