Monaghan County Council is inviting community groups, residents’ associations, Tidy Towns groups, local businesses and interested stakeholders to take part in the Community-Based Climate Innovation (CBCI) Programme.

Delivered by Trinity College Dublin and Munster Technological University (MTU), this innovative programme brings together communities, businesses and organisations to explore climate challenges, identify opportunities for positive change and develop practical, locally led solutions.

What is the Programme?

Running from September to December, the programme combines expert-led learning, collaborative workshops and one-to-one support to help participants build the knowledge, skills and networks needed to take effective climate action.

Participants will benefit from:

  • 6 online webinars
  • 3 in-person workshops in Monaghan
  • 3 online coaching sessions
  • Peer learning and networking opportunities

Using a systems-thinking approach, participants will explore the environmental, social and economic factors influencing climate action and work together to identify solutions that can benefit their communities.

Why Take Part?

The programme offers an opportunity to:

  • Build knowledge and confidence around climate action and sustainability
  • Connect with community groups, businesses and local organisations
  • Learn from experienced facilitators and climate innovation experts
  • Develop practical ideas and projects that can make a positive local impact
  • Strengthen partnerships and networks that can support future initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of locally-led climate solutions
  • Access a limited number of accredited MTU micro-credential places (5 ECTS credits)

As Monaghan continues to work towards its climate targets, funding opportunities for climate action, energy efficiency and sustainability projects are expected to grow. The CBCI Programme will help participants develop project ideas, build local partnerships and create a pipeline of practical, community-supported initiatives that can be progressed when future funding opportunities arise.

By taking part, communities and organisations can become better positioned to access funding, collaborate on future projects and play an active role in shaping local climate action.
