Proposed CCTV installation in Carrickmacross

Monaghan Co. Council proposes to install CCTV cameras on Main Street and its environs, Cloughvalley Play Park and St Macartan Terrace in Carrickmacross. The purpose of this is to deter anti-social behaviour and prevent crime thereby providing a safer environment for the benefit of the whole community.

It is proposed to install 18 No. CCTV cameras at twelve locations throughout the Town, all of which have been agreed with An Garda Siochana.

Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme shall be available for inspection during normal office hours (9.30am- 4.30pm) at Carrickmacross Civic Offices, Riverside Rd, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed scheme may be made in writing to Mr. Damien Thornton, Carrickmacross Civic Offices, Riverside Rd, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan not later than 4pm on 24th February 2022.

Temporary Closing of Road

 

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District Ballybay/Clones in County Monaghan:

Date:     Monday 24th January 2022 to Friday 28th January 2022

To facilitate:  Sewer and Water Connections for new residential units

Roads Closed:

R183 Analore Street:  For a distance of 80m between its junction with the R183 O’Duffy Street and its junction with the L2820 Abbey Street in the townland of Crossmoyle, Clones.

Alternative Route:

Westbound traffic take R183 O’Duffy Street, N54 Monaghan Street and R212 McCurtain Street.

Eastbound traffic take R212 McCurtain Street, N54 Monaghan Street and R183 O’Duffy Street.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

This notice complies with the Roads Act 1993 (Section 75)

Temporary Closing of Roads – Emergency Closure

 

Monaghan County Council hereby gives notice of Emergency Closure in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994 that it will close the following road in the Municipal District of Monaghan in County Monaghan:

Date & Time:              Saturday 15th January 2022 and Sunday 16th January 2022              08:00 to 20:00 on both days

To Facilitate:               Leak Repair to the public drinking water mains

Roads Closed:             LP-2000 Tydavnet Road, Scotstown at Scotstown Bridge

Alternative Routes:    Northbound traffic should divert at main street Scotstown and continue along the LP-2010 towards Ballinode. Continue through Ballinode to the end of the road and turn left onto the R186 in the direction of Tydavnet. Diversion ends at Tydavnet village.

Southbound traffic should divert to the south-east at Drumdesco/McNally’s/Brennan’s crossroads onto the LP-1012 towards Lemaculla Cross/Cappog/Ballinode. At the end of the road at Lemaculla cross turn right onto the LT-16102 towards Ballinode. At the end of the road, turn right on the LP-1610 through Ballinode and towards Scotstown. Diversion ends in Scotstown village.

Conservation Management Plan – Black Pig’s Dyke at Scotshouse

Have your Say on a Conservation Management Plan for Black Pigs Dyke, Scotshouse, County Monaghan

Public Consultation – Wednesday 12 January to Wednesday 26 January 2022.

Monaghan County Council would like to invite members of the public to respond to a public consultation survey informing a Conservation Management Plan for the Black Pig’s Dyke near Scotshouse.

The Black Pig’s Dyke, also known as the Black Pig’s Race and the Worm Ditch, is an extensive linear earthwork dating back to the Iron Age.  One well preserved section of the Dyke at Aghareagh West near Scotshouse was taken over by Monaghan County Council in 1976.  Under the Council’s care, a number of archaeological investigations have been carried out to learn more about the monument, as well as the recently discovered bronze age settlement nearby.

Monaghan County Council has therefore commissioned a Conservation Management Plan to assess the heritage significance of the dyke in this location and to identify a series of measures by which its heritage can be better conserved, protected and interpreted.  These will culminate in a prioritised action plan of projects for implementation as funding becomes available.  The project will help inform the conversation of the wider lengths of the Dyke elsewhere in the County.

Public Consultation – Wednesday 12 January to Wednesday 26 January 2022.

Monaghan County Council would like to invite members of the public to respond to a public consultation survey informing a Conservation Management Plan for Rossmore Forest Park.

Rossmore Forest Park is a popular green space on the edge of Monaghan Town that is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.  Originally managed for forestry by its owners Coillte, it is now also being developed in partnership with the Council for increased leisure and recreation activities, as informed by the Rossmore Park Forest Masterplan.

Yet Rossmore is a special landscape with much heritage significance. Its built and cultural heritage dates back to the Castle and Parkland constructed there by the Rossmore Family in the 18th and 19th centuries, and also much further back to Neolithic times as evidenced by archaeological excavations.  The natural heritage of the park relates to its river, collection of manmade lakes and mosaic of various woodland habitats.

Online Public Consultation Event to present the Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan and the Roosky Lands Master Plan, Monaghan Town

Monaghan County Council has engaged consultants, Sheridan Woods Architects and Urban Planners, to prepare the above referenced Plans. A presentation of these plans will be delivered by the consultants.

This presentation forms part of the consultation on the proposed variations of the Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025 to incorporate the Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan (Proposed Variation No. 3) and the Roosky Lands Master Plan (Proposed Variation No. 4).

The proposed variation incorporates the Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan. The purpose of the Plan is to provide guidance on the regeneration options for the future development of Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan area. A variation to the Development Plan is required to give statutory basis to the Regeneration Plan. The proposed variation includes a new objective within the Settlement Plan for Monaghan Town within the Monaghan County Development Plan 2019-2025,

Objective MPO 15 to, ‘Ensure that all development proposals within the Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan area have regard to the regeneration strategy and development objectives of the Dublin Street North Regeneration Plan.’

Reason. To provide a strategic framework to promote development in a coordinated and sustainable manner in this town centre area that has considerable development potential.
