Monaghan County Council has welcomed significant funding support from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for the delivery of a new social housing development at An Creagán, Monneill, Rockcorry, Co. Monaghan, in partnership with GEDA Construction under a Partnership Development Agreement.
The development will provide 21 high-quality homes, comprising of 4 two-bedroom, 16 three-bedroom and 1 four-bedroom houses.
The project represents a major investment in the future of Rockcorry and demonstrates Monaghan County Council’s commitment to delivering sustainable communities and meeting local housing needs across rural County Monaghan.
The new homes will help maintain and strengthen the population of Rockcorry by creating housing opportunities for individuals and families who wish to remain in the village or move to the area from surrounding communities. The development will support rural regeneration and contribute to the long-term sustainability and vitality of the village.
Designed to the highest modern standards, all homes will achieve an A2 Building Energy Rating, ensuring excellent energy efficiency, reduced household energy costs, and improved environmental performance. The development will provide comfortable, accessible, and well-designed homes with layouts that meet the needs of modern living.
The scheme has been carefully designed to address a range of housing requirements within the community. Accommodation will be suitable for older people, people with disabilities, small households, and families, reflecting the identified social housing need in the area.
The An Creagán development forms part of Monaghan County Council’s ongoing commitment to providing sustainable, high-quality social housing that promotes social inclusion, supports community development, and enhances quality of life for residents.
Once completed, the development will make a valuable contribution to the regeneration of Rockcorry, ensuring that people and families of varying household sizes and needs have access to modern, affordable homes within a thriving rural community.
Expected Completion of the project is late 2027.
