NOTICE OF VARIATION OF THE MONAGHAN COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2013-2019 (INCORPORATING THE DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR THE TOWNS OF MONAGHAN, CARRICKMACROSS, CASTLEBLAYNEY, CLONES, AND BALLYBAY) – VARIATION NO.6
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2010 that on 2nd October 2017 Monaghan County Council made a variation (Variation No. 6) to the Monaghan County Development Plan 2013-2019 (incorporating the Development Plans for the towns of Monaghan, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clones and Ballybay).
The variation incorporates the Dublin Street Regeneration Plan, the purpose of which is to provide guidance on the regeneration options for the future development of the Dublin Street Regeneration Plan area. The proposed variation includes a new objective within the Monaghan Town Development Plan,
Objective MNO 4 to, ‘Ensure that all development proposals within the Dublin Street Regeneration Plan area have regard to the regeneration strategy and development objectives of the Dublin Street Regeneration Plan.’
Reason: To provide a strategic framework to promote development in a coordinated and sustainable manner in this town centre area that has considerable development potential.
A copy of the County Development Plan as varied is available for inspection at the offices of the Planning Authority, Monaghan County Council, The Glen, Monaghan during opening hours from 9.15am – 5pm (lunch time closing 1:00 – 1:30 p.m.). Glaslough Village ACA – Variation No. 7

NOTICE OF VARIATION OF THE MONAGHAN COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2013-2019 (INCORPORATING THE DEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR THE TOWNS OF MONAGHAN, CARRICKMACROSS, CASTLEBLAYNEY, CLONES, AND BALLYBAY) – VARIATION NO.7
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2010 that on 5th March 2018 Monaghan County Council made a variation (Variation No. 7) to the Monaghan County Development Plan 2013-2019 (incorporating the Development Plans for the towns of Monaghan, Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Clones and Ballybay).
Glaslough village has been designated as an Architectural Conservation Area, the purpose of which is to protect the special character and interest of Glaslough village ACA and to set out conservation and planning policies to protect its special character, which will guide future development. The variation is also accompanied by the document Glaslough ACA Statement of Character which includes the ACA boundary map and provides guidance on the future management of the ACA. A variation to the Development Plan is required to give statutory basis to the Glaslough village ACA.
The variation includes new policies within the Monaghan County Development Plan (2013 – 2019),
CAP 2 To seek to preserve, protect and enhance the character of the Glaslough village Architectural Conservation Area.
CAP 3 To ensure that any development, modifications, alterations, or extensions affecting a structure within the Glaslough village ACA has regard to the guidance provided in the Glaslough ACA Statement of Character, and are not detrimental to the general character of the ACA.
Reason: To protect the special character of Glaslough village and provide guidance on the sustainable future management of the special character of Glaslough village.
