The Monaghan Advantage Feasibility Study represents a significant milestone in strengthening the future of County Monaghan’s advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Delivered under the guidance of Angela Duffy and her team at Resolve Partners, the study provides a comprehensive assessment of the sector and identifies opportunities to support future growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
The project has been supported through the Smart Regions Enterprise Innovation Scheme, whose backing has been instrumental in enabling this strategic analysis.
The study was launched during the first Monaghan Business Event as part of Local Enterprise Week, bringing together businesses, stakeholders, and support organisations to help shape the future direction of the sector.
Purpose of the Feasibility Study
The Monaghan Advantage Feasibility Study provides a comprehensive analysis of County Monaghan’s advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors.
The study aims to:
- Assess the current strengths, challenges, and opportunities within the sector.
- Identify strategic supports and interventions that can strengthen innovation and competitiveness.
- Explore opportunities to accelerate sustainable business growth.
- Develop recommendations to help position Monaghan as a leader in advanced manufacturing and engineering.
By establishing a clear understanding of the sector’s current position and future potential, the study will help inform future investment decisions, policy development, and enterprise support initiatives.

Ballybay Public Realm and Economic Plan
The overarching purpose of the Plan is to:
Aims to address the future sustainable development of Ballybay through:
- Establishment of a viable and growing population, sufficient to support a wide variety of
employment and services. - Development of infrastructure where necessary to accommodate growth within the town.
- Improved transport links both within the county and to destinations outside it.
- Encouragement of re-development of back lands and derelict sites throughout the town.
- Provision of sufficient parking within the town centre.
- Facilitation of the development of Lough Major and the Dromore River System as tourist assets.

Carrickmacross Public Realm and Economic Plan
The overarching purpose of the Plan is to:
Enhance and improve the way Carrickmacross Town functions on a day-to-day basis, with resulting long-term socio-economic, cultural and economic benefits for residents, businesses and visitors. The Plan seeks at its core to identify and detail a number of intervention opportunities and associated projects, fundamental to the future development, management and promotion of the town. Key to this is the formulation of a Shared Vision for the Town that focuses on spaces, buildings and walk-ways in a way that acknowledges the Town’s unique heritage assets and characteristics.

Castleblayney Public Realm and Economic Plan
The purpose of the Plan is to:
Build on and promote Castleblayney’s existing economic, architectural and cultural assets to enhance the attractiveness of the Town as a place to live, work and visit. In doing so, the Plan will also act as a catalyst to attract additional investment. To this end, the Plan seeks to establish the most effective presentation, management and development of Castleblayney’s public realm and to promote its economic assets and opportunities through the identification of a number of intervention opportunities and associated projects.

Clones Heritage and Economic Plan
Clones Heritage and Economic Plan was commissioned by Clones Tidy Towns in conjunction with Clones Town Team to develop a plan for the most effective presentation, management and development of Clones’ heritage, economic assets and opportunities and for the protection of the historic sites and artefacts of the town. This plan has been developed though collaboration and engagement with the Clones Town Team, local community and Council to ensure it reflects the views and aspirations of local people. The document includes an Action Plan which has been developed to be delivered over a 10-15 year period by a range of local interest groups bringing forward projects as funding opportunities arise.
