Monaghan County Council have appointed a contractor to construct a new culvert across the Glen Road as part of an overall phased approach to the replacement of the Monaghan Town Culvert.
The new culvert across the Glen Road is being supported on a piled foundation and the proposed works will be divided into two phases
Phase 1 consists of the culvert works are on the western side of the Glen road and Phase 2 will see the completion of the culvert on the Eastern side as far as the proposed Aldi site boundary. As part of these works a section of the boundary wall with the St Louis Convent grounds will be demolished and rebuilt on a piled foundation.
As part of the Monaghan Town Culvert upgrade the Glen Road will be reduced to two lanes from the 26th of February until July 2024 to facilitate construction works. The traffic management setup will allow for school drop offs and pickups, however please note that traffic delays are likely. Please note the attached Traffic Management Plans are subject to change.
