Local and European Elections 2019
Polling for the European Parliament and Local Elections 2019 will take place on Friday 24 May 2019, the hours of Polling are 7:00am to 10:00pm. A referendum on divorce will also be held on the same day.
Information for Potential Candidates:
A person may nominate himself or herself as a candidate or, with his or her consent, may be nominated by a person who is registered as a local government elector in the local electoral area where the candidate proposes to stand for election.
In County Monaghan there are three electoral areas:
Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Electoral Area Six seats
Ballybay-Clones Electoral Area Five seats
Monaghan Electoral Area Seven seats
The period for receipt of nominations commences at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday 27th April 2019 and ends at 12 noon on Saturday 4th May 2019.
Nomination forms must be submitted to the Local Returning Officer, Monaghan County Council, County Offices, The Glen, Monaghan during the period mentioned above.

Supplement to the Register
The closing date for the Supplement to the Register is Tuesday 7 May 2019.
The closing date for the Supplement to the Postal and Special Voters List is Sunday 28 April 2019.
List of Forms required for the Referendum:
RFA 2 – Application for inclusion in the Supplement to the Register of Electors – Closing date Tuesday 7th May 2019
RFA 3 – Application to change your address in the Supplement to the Register of Electors – Closing date Tuesday 7th May 2019
RFA 5 – Application to change your status in the Supplement to the Register of Electors – Closing date Tuesday 7th May 2019
PVS 1 – Application for inclusion in the Supplement to the Postal Voters list by persons with a Physical Illness or a Physical Disability – Closing date Sunday 28th April 2019
PVS 2 – Application for inclusion in the Supplement to the Postal Voters list by electors unable to vote at their polling station due to circumstances of Occupation, including certain Students – Sunday 28th April 2019.
Candidates can only erect posters from 24th April 2019, which is 30 days before the polling date. There is a requirement for candidates to remove all posters within 7 days of the poll.
