Monaghan Town Local Transport Plan

Monaghan County Council has prepared the Monaghan Town Local Transport Plan to provide a coordinated, evidence‑led framework for the future development of transport and mobility within the town. The Plan aligns with national and regional transport policy and applies an Area‑Based Transport Assessment approach to prioritise sustainable travel modes, improve accessibility, and manage traffic demand. It identifies a programme of integrated, phased interventions to enhance walking, cycling and public transport infrastructure, improve junction and corridor performance, strengthen town centre connectivity, and deliver a safer, more resilient transport network that supports compact growth, climate action objectives and long‑term economic vitality.
