The Quiet Road Project Clontoe Road Scotstown

 

 

Monaghan County Council has issued a notice under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 (as amended) proposing a traffic calming and Quiet Road scheme on the LT20001 Clontoe Road, between Ballinode and Scotstown, Co. Monaghan.

Purpose:
The scheme is intended to improve the safety and convenience of road users through traffic calming and road environment enhancements.

Key elements of the proposed scheme include:

  • Resurfacing of the road, including red-coloured surfacing
  • Installation of Quiet Road signage
  • Additional traffic calming measures and signage
  • Installation of speed cushions
  • New road markings layout
  • Construction of passing bays
  • New footpaths at both ends of the road
  • Erection of gates
  • All associated site and ancillary works

Public consultation:

  • Plans and particulars are available for inspection at:
    • Roads Section, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Armagh Road, Monaghan
    • Monaghan MD Office, The Glen, Monaghan
  • Inspection is available during office hours from Wednesday, 29 April 2026.

Submissions or observations:

  • Must be made in writing to the Roads Section or Monaghan MD Office
  • Closing date: 5:00 pm on 3 June 2026
