Your library membership lasts one year. It’s important to renew your library card because when it expires you won’t be able to borrow, reserve or renew books and you won’t be able to use online services. You can either renew your membership online by logging into your library account, or by asking a staff member in the library branch

You can use your library card in any public library in the Republic of Ireland.

You can log into your account online with your library card number (Borrower I.D.) and your PIN. If you don’t know your PIN you can reset your PIN online or ask a staff member at any branch library.

Please report the loss of your card to your local library. When you call in to your local library, please bring photo ID and you will be issued with a new card. Your borrower information, including any loans or reservations will be transferred to the new card.

You can borrow up to 12 items for 3 weeks at a time.

You can search the library catalogue, contact a member of staff by phone, or ask staff in the branch.

Yes. You can suggest an item in any branch. Pease ask a staff member.

Yes, and we will let you know when the item is available for you.

Yes. You can request and borrow items from any public library in the Republic of Ireland.

You will be reminded to return your item on time. If you don’t return it after a third reminder, your card will be blocked from taking out or renewing any further items, including eBooks and eAudiobooks. All your library privileges will be restored when the overdue item is returned, or you have contacted your library.

Members agree to take good care of all library materials borrowed and, with the exception of children’s material, agree to reimburse Monaghan County Council for the cost of any loss or damage to these materials. To reimburse for cost of a lost or damaged item please report the item to a staff member in any branch.

Yes. We provide free broadband and wireless access to the internet.

Yes. Printing is available in every branch library. See our Printing in the Library page for further information.
