Temporary Closing of Roads – R927-3 at Magheross for a distance of 900m from its junction with R179-5 Kingscourt Road to its junction with LP-4800-0 Tullynaskeagh

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following road in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross-Castleblayney in County Monaghan:

Date:                     Monday 29th May 2023 to Friday 30th June 2023

To Facilitate:      Road Improvement Works

Road Closed:

R927-3 at Magheross for a distance of 900m from its junction with R179-5 Kingscourt Road to its junction with LP-4800-0 Tullynaskeagh

Diversion Routes:

Southbound traffic travelling from Kingscourt Road on the R179 will be diverted left onto R927 heading North along Main St and continuing to Castleblayney Road, at the Castleblayney Road roundabout traffic will be diverted right onto the southbound lane of the N2 at the Carrickmacross North Interchange. At the junction of N2/LP4922 traffic shall be directed right onto LP4922 heading Northwest and proceed to the LP4800 Drumconrath Road junction.

Northbound traffic travelling from Drumconrath to Carrickmacross on the LP4800 shall be diverted right onto LP4921 heading Southeast, at the junction of LP4922/N2 traffic shall be diverted left onto the N2 heading Northbound, at the Carrickmacross North Interchange traffic shall be diverted left towards Carrickmacross Town Centre. At Castleblayney Road roundabout traffic shall be diverted left  onto R927 towards Main St heading south and proceed towards R179 Kingscourt Road junction.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned road with the Roads Department, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 16th May 2023.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following roads in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross-Castleblayney in County Monaghan:

Roads Closed:
• Castleblayney Road from the Ross Road junction to Monaghan Street
• Monaghan Street
• Main Street to the Kingscourt Road junction.
• O’Neill Street
• Bridewell Lane
• Parnell Street
• Chapel Lane
• Shirley House Lane
• Righthand Turn Lane on Farney Street

Diversion Routes:
Traffic travelling South along the R927 towards the town centre shall be diverted along the following route:
Right onto Ross Road to the Shercock Road roundabout, around the Shercock Road roundabout onto Ross Road, left at the junction of Ross Road and Castleblayney Road, around the Castleblayney Road roundabout onto the south bound lane of the N2, turn left off the N2 at the Dundalk Road junction, around the Dundalk Road roundabout onto Oriel Road, turn right at the junction of Oriel Road and the Old Ardee Road. End Detour.

Traffic travelling North towards Castle Street shall be diverted along the following route:
Right onto the Old Ardee Road, turn left at the junction of the Old Ardee Road and Oriel Road, around the Dundalk Road roundabout towards the N2 interchange, turn right onto the north bound land of the N2, turn left off the N2 towards the Castleblayney Road roundabout, around the Castleblayney Road roundabout onto the Castleblayney Road. End Detour.

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned roads with the Roads Department, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 16th May 2023. Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Ballybay/Clones in County Monaghan:

Date:    Between Monday 8th May 2023 and Thursday 30th November 2023

(Each Road may be closed for a maximum of 2 weeks within the Closure Period)

To Facilitate:     Road Improvement Works

Road Closed:

LT-25022 for a distance of 1800m between its junctions with the LP-2502 at Drumgavny and the junction with the R162 at Aghnaclea.

Diversion Routes:

North Eastbound traffic travelling from Drumgavny to Aghnaclea will be diverted onto the LP-2502 and continue North until it becomes the LP-2501.  Traffic will continue along the LP-2501 before turning right onto the LT-25021 and continue to the junction of the LT-65012.  Traffic will turn right and travel south along the LT-65012 to the junction of the R162, adjacent to the junction of the LT-25022.

South Westbound traffic travelling from Aghnaclea to Drumgavny will be diverted left onto the LT-65012 and proceed North to the junction with the LT-25021.  Traffic will turn left and proceed along the LT-25021 to the junction with the LP-2501.  Traffic will turn left and continue South along the LP-2501 until it becomes the LP-2502 and continue on to the junction of the LT-64022.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).

LT-39001 for a distance of 1000m between its junctions with the LP-3900 at Lisgorran and the R-183 at Edenaneane.

Diversion Routes:

Westbound traffic travelling from Edenaneane to Lisgorran will be diverted West along the R-183 towards Swann’s Cross and turn left onto the LP-3900 at Drummuck.  Traffic will continue South along the LP-3900 to the junction with the LT-39001 at Lisgorran.

Eastbound traffic travelling from Lisgorran to Edenaneane will be diverted North along the LP-3900 to the junction with the R-183 at Drummuck.  Traffic will turn right and proceed East along the R-183 towards Ballybay to the junction of the LT-39001 at Edenaneane.

Road Closed:

R178-7 at Garlegobban for a distance of 750m from its County boundary at Essexford.

Diversion Routes:

Westbound traffic travelling from Dundalk to Carrickmacross on the R178 will be diverted right onto the LS-8622 heading Northwest, at the junction of LS-8622/LP-4621 traffic will be diverted right onto LP-4621 heading Northeast until the junction of LP-4621/LS-8602, traffic will be diverted left onto LS-8602 heading Northwest until the junction of LS-8601/LP-4601, traffic will be diverted left onto LP-4601 heading Southwest until the junction of LP-4600/R-179, traffic will be diverted left onto R-179 heading Southwest and proceed to Carrickmacross.

Eastbound traffic travelling from Carrickmacross to Dundalk on the R178 will be diverted left onto the LP-4640 and proceed Northwest  to the junction of LP-4640/R179, traffic will be diverted right onto R179 and proceed North to Culloville. At the junction of R179/N53 traffic will be diverted right and proceed along the N53 towards Dundalk.

Eastbound traffic travelling from Aghaclay to Stranooden will be diverted left onto the LT-24113 and proceed North to the junction with the LS-6401.  Traffic will turn right and proceed on the LS-6401 until it becomes the LS-6402.  Traffic will continue along the LS-6402 before turning right onto the LT-64021 and continue to the junction of the LT-64022.

Date and Time of Closure:          Sunday 30th April 2023 @ 5pm to Monday 1st May 2023 @ 12.30am

To Facilitate:                   Tydavnet May Day Festival

Road Closed:                   Section of the R186 within Tydavnet Village between Cnoc na Greine and St. Dympna’s Church Car-park

Diversion Routes:

Northbound traffic will be diverted via the LP-1020 (Scotstown Road), turning left at “McNallys Cross/Brennans Cross” and proceeding on the LP-1011 and then on the LP-1010 to “Courtneys Cross” (beside Barratitoppy old schoolhouse) and then turning right onto the LP-1001(Knockatallon Road) and proceeding onwards back onto the R186 Tydavnet Road at “American Cross/Killylough”.

Southbound traffic will be diverted via the LP-1171 (Emyvale Road) turning right at Cloghnart on to the N2 to Monaghan town.

Alternative routes will be signposted in order to direct the traffic.  Emergency vehicles will be catered for at all times.
