You may apply for entry on the POSTAL voters list, which will come into force on 15th February, 2020, if you are unable to go in person to vote at your polling station due to a physical illness or disability which is likely to continue for the duration of the Register of Electors now being prepared.

2019 Community Environment Action Fund
Do you have a project or initiative that could help to increase awareness of environmental issues locally, or that could help your community to become more sustainable?
If so, you may qualify for financial assistance from the
2019 Community Environment Action Fund (previously called Local Agenda 21 Fund). This Fund promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at local level.
Does Your Project Qualify?
Projects should focus on environmental awareness and actions which support and complement national environmental policies such as those on waste, biodiversity, water conservation and climate change.
A wide variety of projects and schemes have been supported under the Fund in previous years, including community gardens and allotments, compost schemes, rainwater harvesting, biodiversity projects, waste reduction initiatives, educational initiatives and environmental exhibitions. Depending on number of applications the maximum grant is expected to be in the region of €1,500

Update on LP 4900 Local Road in Magheracloone, Carrickmacross
A decision was made to reopen the LP4900 local road at Drumgossat with immediate effect, following a meeting today (28 August 2019) between representatives of Monaghan County Council, the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, the Environmental Protection Agency, Irish Public Bodies Ltd., together with mining consultants, Wardell Armstrong and Ove Arup & Partners Ltd.
The road had been closed to public access since December 2018, following the emergence of a crownhole, 35 metres from the roadside. Since then an extensive programme of safety measures has been put in place, including the installation of 8 extensometers to monitor ground conditions along the LP4900. Additional measures will also be put in place in the coming months along the R179 and LP4900 to monitor ground conditions into the future.
Works on demolishing structures above the disused underground mine will commence shortly.
Monaghan County Council apologises to all effected by the road closures, but emphasises that public safety was its prime consideration at all times.

Green Space Initiative – Area in Front of Courthouse
Events Planned to Date
This online survey is part of the ‘Border Navigator’ project and is the third in a series examining the impact that Brexit is having, or may have, on Communities of the Border Region. This latest initiative provides an opportunity for the voices of border region residents and workers to be heard on recent developments and the subject of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit scenario, just two months before the planned exit date of the UK on 31st October.
The subsequent report will again be widely disseminated, including to the governments of the UK and Ireland, the European Commission and Parliament, and other key stakeholders. We hope to complete and issue an interim findings document ahead of the next European Council meeting on 17-18 October, and both the final report and interim findings document will be available for download from the QUB and ICBAN websites www.icban.com
The previous reports, ‘Bordering on Brexit’ (November 2017) and ‘Brexit at the Border’ (June 2018), gained significant coverage in local, national and international media, including India and Egypt, and were widely referenced across the UK, Ireland and Europe. Over 1,000 people participated in the two previous studies.

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Monaghan in County Monaghan:
Date & Time of Closure: Monday September 2nd 08.00 to Friday September 20th 0.00 2019
To Facilitate: Completing construction of the new side road along with installation of services, pavement and finishing works on the side road and the adjacent N2
Road Closed: L5250 Mullaghpeak Road where it joins the N2
Diversion Routes:
Via N2 to L5260 Drumcaw Road and L5250 Mullaghpeak Road.
The closure will take place in the townland of Gortmoney, with the diversion route extending from Gortmoney to Corracrin, Lelgonnelly, Drumgaghan, Belderg, Skinnagin, Drumcaw and Legacurry townlands.
The L5250 Mullaghpeak Road will be closed for approximately 100 metres where it joins the N2. The closure is required to allow reconstruction of the Mullaghpeak Road where it joins the new N2 Road alignment scheme currently under construction. There will be no through traffic between the N2 and the L5250 Mullaghpeak Road during the closure, however the remainder of L5250 Mullaghpeak Road will remain open to local traffic only for residents and businesses along the road.
Vehicles travelling North along the N2 will no longer be able to turn right at the junction between the N2 & L5250 Mullaghpeak Road – instead vehicles will need to proceed South along the N2 to the L5260 Drumcaw Road turn-off and turn left onto the L5260 Drumcaw Road. Continue on this road for 1.1 miles (1.8 km) to L5250 Road. Turn Left onto L5250 and proceed North along the L5250 for 0.8 miles (1.3 km). This will be the end of the diversion route.
Vehicles travelling South along the N2 will no longer be able to turn left at the junction between the N2 & L5250 Mullaghpeak Road – instead vehicles will need to proceed South approximately 1.75 miles (2.8 km) and turn left onto the L5260 Drumcaw Road and follow the diversion as outlined above.
Local access will be maintained along the L5250 Mullaghpeak Road for residents and businesses, although there will be no through access onto the N2. Residents will need to use the diversion route via the L5260 Drumcaw Road and the N2.
Emergency Vehicles will be facilitated at all times.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to article 132(1) of the Planning and Development Regulations, 2001 (as amended), that the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government has received information from the Department of Infrastructure, Northern Ireland in relation to the following proposed development in Northern Ireland.

Nature of development: Proposed 3no. free range poultry houses with internal egg stores (to contain 62000 birds per house giving an overall site capacity of 186000 birds) with 6no. heat exchangers, 6no. feed bins, 3no. underground wash tanks, concrete hardstanding and turning areas, access and associated site works.

Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above mentioned roads with the Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday August 20th. Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection To Road Closure”.

Community Involvement Scheme 2020
The Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport operates a scheme for the repair and upgrade of local or regional public roads under The Community Involvement scheme (CIS). Monaghan County Council now invites applications for eligible roads projects for consideration in 2020.
Community Involvement Schemes (CIS) are joint ventures between the community and Monaghan County Council, aimed at improving the quality of public roads which are in need of repair. A 15% percent contribution by the public is required towards the total cost of the works.
Eligible works include surface dressing, road strengthening and ancillary works.

Completed application forms are to be submitted to the Roads Section, Monaghan County Council, M- TEK II, Armagh Road, Monaghan by Friday 31st January 2020.

FOCUS ENGINEERING NETWORK DAC
Focus Engineering Network DAC was established by Monaghan County Council in conjunction with Cavan and Louth County Councils and Dundalk Institute of Technology as a not for profit company. The new Network will be industry led and will represent the extensive Engineering Sector that exists in the North East region. It is the Network’s ambition to develop a fully functioning engineering network in the region servicing the Engineering sector and the companies which support it.
Applications are now invited from suitably qualified persons for inclusion on the following panel from which future relevant vacancies arising during the lifetime of the panel may be filled:-
