Monaghan St Patrick’s Day Parade takes place Saturday 17th March 2pm. We are calling on businesses, community groups to come and join in on the day. Lots of prizes to be won plus €300 prize for most innovative float. Download the application form to have a float:

Monaghan County Council has arranged that 36 half-paid scholarships will be made available to students attending secondary schools in the County. The scholarship will be tenable at Irish Colleges during the summer of 2018. The scholarships are being sponsored by Monaghan County Council and by (a) Gael Linn in respect of Bun an Inbhir; (b) Coláiste Bhríde, Rann na Feirste; (c) Coláiste na bhFiann: Gaoth Dobhair, Drom Rí, Ráth Chairn and Ros Muc; (d) Coláiste Sheosaimh, Connamara; (e) Coláiste an Phiarsagh, Tír Chonaill; (f) Coláiste na nOileán, Leitir Móir.

SUPPLEMENT TO THE 2018/2019 REGISTER OF ELECTORS

The Register of Electors for the year 2018/2019 has been published and comes into force on 15th February 2018.  Any elections/referenda held during 2018 will be based on this Register.   If your name has been omitted from the register (which is printed on white paper) although you were eligible for inclusion in it, you can apply now to be included in the supplement to the Register.

Conditions for inclusion to the Supplement are:-

  • be 18 years of age;
  • be ordinarily resident at the address at which you wish to be registered;
  • not already registered as an elector except in the case of change of address – if you are not on the register of electors and have moved residence from one constituency to another or within a constituency (different local electoral area) you may also apply for entry to the supplement.  A separate form is available for this purpose.

If you’re not already on the register, you can apply to be included in the supplement by filling out the green form (RFA2) available from the locations above or can be downloaded from www.monaghan.ie and posting or delivering it to:-

MONAGHAN COUNTY COUNCIL COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENT FUNDING SCHEME 2018

Monaghan County Council is committed to supporting local communities to promote, enhance and develop their local area. This commitment is supported by the annual Community and Environment Funding Scheme.
We are now inviting applications for the 2018 funding scheme. In 2018, the Municipal Districts, Community Development, Housing and Environment sections are working together to allocate funding through one central funding scheme. This process will allow community groups to maximise funding available to them and to ensure all community groups, residents committees and tidy towns groups throughout the county are supported in their voluntary activities.

Funding is available under three distinct measures.
Measure one: Community Infrastructure Supports
The community infrastructure supports measure aims to develop and enhance local community facilities and amenities in County Monaghan.

Measure two: Community Development Supports
The community development support measure aims to support local communities to promote and encourage community participation and engagement throughout the county.

Measure three: Environmental Supports
The environmental supports measure aims to support local communities, residents committees and tidy towns groups to deliver projects that enhance the appearance and improve the quality of the environment in their area.

Apply to our €1.6million Social Enterprise Fund by 28th March 2018

The Social Enterprise Development Fund, a €1.6 million fund which will be delivered over two years; 2018 – 2020, is now open for applications.The Social Enterprise Development Fund, a €1.6 million fund which will be delivered over two years; 2018 – 2020, is now open for applications.

The fund was created by Social Innovation Fund Ireland (SIFI) in partnership with Local Authorities Ireland and funded by IPB Insurance and the Department of Rural and Community Development. The Department of Rural and Community Development provides match funding for all funds raised by Social Innovation Fund Ireland, through the Dormant Accounts Fund. IPB Insurance is an Irish owned general insurance company which protects and supports their local authority members and their communities across the length and breadth of Ireland.

FUND OBJECTIVE

The objective of the fund is to find and back social enterprises that adds to the social and economic fabric of their community by way of social impact; creating a national pipeline of social enterprises.

The fund will provide critical support to the most innovative and impactful projects proposed by social enterprises across Ireland helping them to:

  • Increase their social impact
  • Increase their traded income
  • Create more jobs
  • Develop long-term, effective and sustainable solutions across Ireland.

WHAT DOES THE FUND OFFER? 

  • Eight cash grants of €50,000

Up to eight social enterprises per year will receive a cash grant of €50,000. At least two grants will be awarded to support the most innovative and impactful projects proposed by social enterprises in each of the following categories:

  • Best Social Enterprises Project Urban x 2
  • Best Social Enterprises Project Town x 2
  • Best Social Enterprises Project Rural x 2
  • Six-month Accelerator Programme

Awardees will also obtain a place on the SIFI Accelerator Programme which is designed to help social enterprises improve their effectiveness. By joining the programme, organisations will gain access to a peer network of the best social enterprises in Ireland.
Additional places will be reserved for the most promising social enterprises across all 31 Local Authorities in Ireland.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The applicant must be a social enterprise with a not-for-profit legal form. Social enterprises are defined as organisations that:

  • Have a clear social mission and make a social impact
  • Generate income from goods or services
  • Reinvest any surplus into achieving their mission
  • Are separate from government or state agencies.

The Social Enterprise Development Fund will accept applications from:

  • Social enterprises, as defined above
  • Social enterprises which sit within larger not-for-profit organisations such as charities and voluntary organisations.

Housing Grants Schemes

Monaghan County Council wishes to advise the public that the 2018 Housing Grants Schemes are now open and applications are being accepted for the schemes outlined below:-

  • Housing Adaptation Grant for People with Disabilities
  • Mobility Aids Grant for People with Mobility/Disability Needs
  • Housing Aid for Older People Grant (66 years or over)

If you wish to apply for any of these schemes, please ensure you submit your application as soon as possible in order to have it fully assessed and considered. Please also ensure applications are completed IN FULL with all appropriate documentation attached.
(Please note: Incomplete applications form will be returned to applicant).
