In collaboration with Carrickmacross Tidy Towns, we are running 3 bicycle repair workshops to encourage more people to cycle safely and confidently and learn how to look after their bicycle. These workshops help residents learn basic maintenance skills, ensuring their bicycles are roadworthy and long-lasting. By promoting cycling, the Council aims to support healthier lifestyles, reduce carbon emissions, and make sustainable travel a practical choice for everyone in the community.

Environmental benefits:
Fast fashion and single-use outfits contribute to textile waste and pollution. By reusing or reselling your Debs dress, you help reduce waste, save resources, and lower the carbon footprint associated with producing new clothing.

Join us on Wednesday 13th May at 8.00 pm in the Shirley Arms Hotel, Carrickmacross for an evening with local author Orla Drumgoole of Irish Mammy Cooks fame.

Looking at making the most of what we already have in the house, fridge and cupboards, mindful shopping, how to use as much of each food item as possible, how to cook smart, using up the same spices to make different dishes and using leftovers creatively.

This event will be advertised on Event Brite nearer the date.

Swap Shop in collaboration with Monaghan Tidy Towns and the Women’s Collective, Monaghan

All roads lead to the WCI Monaghan on Thursday 19th March, 2026 where, in collaboration with Monaghan Tidy Towns and the Women’s Collective, we are holding a swap shop!  The event takes place from 5pm to 9pm.

Our aim is to promote sustainability, reduce waste, and bring the community together. It encourages people to reuse and recycle items instead of throwing them away, helping to cut down on landfill waste. Swap shops also give participants the chance to declutter their homes, find new-to-them items for free, and connect with others who share an interest in sustainable living. They’re fun, social events that highlight the value of reusing what we already have while saving money and protecting the environment.

Venue: YWCA Building

North Road, Monaghan
