Coiste na Gaeilge Scholarship Scheme 2022

 Cúis mhór áthais do Choiste Gaeilge Comhairle Contae Mhuineacháin gur bronnadh 36 páirtscoláireachtaí ar scoláirí Mhuineacháin chun freastal ar choláistí Gaeltachta an samhradh seo.  Tharla an bronnadh ag ócáid a d’eagraigh an Coiste ar an 19ú Bealtaine in Amharclann an Gharáiste, Muineachán.  Ag an ócáid, mhol Cathaoirleach an choiste, an Clr Pat Treanor, na daltaí as a dtoilteanas glacadh le Gaeilge agus spreag sé iad chun spraoi a bheith acu leis an teanga le linn dóibh a bheith ag fanacht sa Ghaeltacht agus thar ceann Chomhairle Contae Mhuineacháin, mar fhocal scoir, ghuigh sé gach rath ar gach scoláire ón gContae atá ag freastal ar an nGaeltacht.

It is with great delight, that Monaghan County Council’s Coiste an Gaeilge Committee has awarded 36 part scholarships to Monaghan students to attend Gaeltacht  colleges this summer. The students,  received their scholarship at an event hosted by the Coiste on the 19^th May, in the Garage Theatre, Monaghan. At the event, Cathaoirleach of the committee, Cllr Pat Treanor, commended the students for their willingness to embrace an Gaeilge  and encouraged them to have fun with the language during their stay in the Gaeltacht and on behalf of Monaghan County Council,  he concluded by wishing all students from the County attending the Gaeltacht well.

This initiative by Monaghan County Council is part of the Council’s Irish Language Scheme.

 

 

 

Temporary Closing of Roads

Monaghan County Council gives notice of its intention to close the following roads in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross-Castleblayney in County Monaghan:

Date of Closure:  3^rd June 2022

Times: 6pm to 9pm       

To Facilitate: Carrickmacross Street Festival Parade

 Roads Closed:

• Castleblayney Rd from the Ross Rd junction to Monaghan St.
• Monaghan St
• Main St to the Kingscourt Rd junction.
• O’Neill St.
• Bridewell Lane.
• Parnell St.
• Chapel Lane.
• Shirley House Lane
• Righthand Turn Lane on Farney St

Diversion Routes:

Traffic travelling south along the R927 towards the town centre shall be diverted along the following route

• Right onto Ross Rd to the Shercock Rd roundabout
• Around the Shercock Rd roundabout onto Ross Rd
• Left at the junction of Ross Rd and Castleblayney Rd
• Around the Castleblayney Rd roundabout onto the south bound lane of the N2
• Left off the N2 at the Dundalk Rd junction
• Around the Dundalk Rd roundabout onto Oriel Rd
• Right at the junction of Oriel Rd and the Old Ardee Rd
• End Detour

Traffic travelling north towards Castle St shall be diverted along the following route

• Right onto the Old Ardee Rd
• Left at the junction of the Old Ardee Rd and Oriel Rd
• Around the Dundalk Rd roundabout towards the N2 interchange
• Right onto the north bound land of the N2
• Left off the N2 towards the Castleblayney Rd roundabout
• Around the Castleblayney Rd roundabout onto the Castleblayney Rd
• End Detour

 Any interested person may lodge an objection to the closing of the above-mentioned roads with the Head of Roads, Monaghan County Council, MTEK II Building, Knockaconny, Monaghan not later than Tuesday 17^th May 2022.  Any objections must be clearly marked on envelope “Objection to Road Closure”. Changing the name of a Road – road L14105

Notice is hereby given that the Municipal District of Monaghan proposes to change the name of road L14105 from Old Cross Square to The Monaghan Harps GAA grounds to “Brendan Og O’Dufaigh Road”.

The Council invites submissions from members of the public in respect of this proposed change of name. Submissions in writing can be forwarded to the Monaghan Municipal District, Council Offices, The Glen, Monaghan or emailed to monaghan@monaghancoco.ie by Friday 13^th May 2022.

Monaghan County Council gives notice to extend the following road closure in the Municipal District of Ballybay/Clones in County Monaghan:

 

Date & Time:      Saturday 30^th April 2022 to Tuesday 31^st May 2022

 To Facilitate:      Bridge Replacement and Road Works.

 Road Closed:

L-4210 in the townlands of Lisduff, Brackly, Greagh, Drumlane and Tullynahinnera Co. Monaghan

 

Diversion Route:

Traffic wishing to travel on the L-4210 in the direction of the R-180 will be diverted onto the L-4200, then turning right on to the R-181, then turning right on to the R-180 at the Lough Egish crossroads.

 Traffic wishing to travel on the L-4210 in the direction of the R-181 will be diverted by remaining on the R-180 to the Lough Egish crossroads, then turning left on to the R-181.

 All detours will be signposted to direct the traffic. (L-4210 Local Access only, no through road at the Bridge Works).

Temporary Closing of Roads

Monaghan County Council gives notice to close the following road in the Municipal District of Monaghan in County Monaghan:

Date of Closure:               Sunday 1^st May 2022 @ 5pm to Monday 2^nd May 2022 @ 12.30am

To Facilitate:                     Open air festival by Tydavnet Community Centre Committee

 Road Closed:                     Section of the R186 within Tydavnet Village between Cnoc na Greine and St. Dympna’s Church Carpark

 

Diversion Routes:

Northbound traffic will be diverted via the L1020 (Scotstown Road), turning right at “McNallys Cross/Brennans Cross” and proceeding to “Courtneys Cross” (beside Barratitoppy old schoolhouse) and then turning right onto the L100 (Knockatallon Road) and proceeding onwards back onto the R186 Tydavnet Road at “American Cross/Killylough”.

Southbound traffic will be diverted via the L1171 (Emyvale Road) turning right at Cloghnart on to the N2 to Monaghan town.

Alternative routes will be signposted in order to direct the traffic.  Emergency vehicles will be catered for at all times.

Monaghan County Council and its Design Team Consultants (RPS) have consulted with the public, local communities, and various stakeholders in respect of scheme proposals for the initial phase of the South Dublin Street and Backlands Regeneration Plan. This report summarises the consultation process, including the steps undertaken to inform the community and stakeholders about the development. It also outlines the feedback received and how the key issues raised
have been considered and addressed, where appropriate, within the design proposals for the scheme.

Part XI Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended)

Part 8, Article 81 Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended)

Monaghan County Council hereby gives notice that it proposes to carry out development at Cooltrimegish, Lough Egish, Co. Monaghan.

The proposed development will consist of:

The realignment of the R181, Shercock Road at Cooltrimegish, Lough Egish, installation of footpaths along the R180 Ballybay to Carrickmacross Road, and the R181, Castleblayney to Shercock Road, works to include the installation of public lighting, drainage, retaining wall, resurfacing works, road marking and all ancillary works

In accordance with Article 81(2)(ca) and 120(1B)(b)(i) of the above-mentioned regulations, Monaghan County Council, as the competent authority, has concluded from a Screening Determination, which is based on an examination of the nature, size and location of the proposed development, that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development, and as such has determined that an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required. This Screening Determination is available for inspection, and at any time before the expiration of 4 weeks from the date of publication of this notice, any person may apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

In accordance with Article 250(1)(ca) of the above-mentioned regulations, Monaghan County Council, as the competent authority, has concluded from a Screening Determination, which is based on an assessment of best scientific knowledge, that the proposed development, either individually or in combination with other plans or projects, is not likely to have a significant effect on a European site,

and as such has determined that an Appropriate Assessment is not required. This Screening Determination is available for inspection, and any person may apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effect on a European site.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development may be inspected or purchased, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during office hours at the offices of Monaghan County Council, Planning Section, No.1 Dublin Street, Monaghan H18 X982 until 5pm on 20^TH of May 2022.

The plans and particulars of the proposed development may also be inspected online at http://www.eplanning.ie/MonaghanCC/searchtypes by searching under Monaghan County Council and entering the address of the development.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development will be situated may be made in writing to Monaghan County Council, Planning Section, No.1 Dublin Street, Monaghan H18 X982 before 5pm on 20^TH of May 2022.

Public Alert:

Mains Flushing in Latton and surrounding area

Irish Water and Monaghan County Council

 

Monaghan County Council on behalf of Irish Water wish to advise customers that water Mains Flushing (Scouring) will take place from Monday 11^th April 2022 to Friday 22^rd April 2022 in the Latton area of the Lough Egish Regional Water Supply Scheme.

The following townlands will be affected: Latton, Lisnagalliagh, Mountain Lodge Demesne, Maghon, Lisdrumcleve, Aghnaskew, Cargaghbane, Mullananalt, Garryduff, Garrybane, Drumgor, Drumcanon, Lackan, Corlea, Cooltrim, Carrickaldragh, Cortaghart, Corlat, Rebane, Tullyrain, Tievaleny and Formil.

Mains flushing is undertaken to improve the quality of water supplied to our customers. Customers in areas where flushing will take place will notice a temporary discolouration to their water but this discolouration will clear when allowed to run for a few minutes.

Customers may also experience reduced pressure and interruptions to their supply for the duration of these works.

We regret any inconvenience caused.
