The community planning process is well underway in Smithborough.  A community needs survey was circulated in 2023, and both local groups and businesses were given the opportunity to meet with Council staff to make their needs known.  Staff also visited Magherarney national school and spoke with the children about the future development of the village, and conducted a lively workshop with the members of Smithborough Foróige to explore the community’s needs from the perspective of a young person.

  • A draft set of actions has been produced and is in circulation.  A community consultation day was held in September 2024, and a follow-up public meeting in November.
  • It is expected that a final Community Plan will be available in early 2025
