Free to borrow Pop Up Shop/Clothes Swap Kit
Monaghan County Council is delighted to be able to offer a free to borrow pop up shop/clothing swap kit for communities, schools and businesses to help tackle the textile crises.
What is a Pop Up Shop/Clothing Swap?
A pop up shop/clothes swap is a party or an event where people are invited to bring along clean, good to wear clothing they no longer use, and exchange it for clothes they will wear; either free of charge or for a small fee. These events are an environmentally friendly way of promoting sustainable fashion and reducing textile waste. They encourage us to refresh our wardrobes without contributing to over consumption and they are great fun !
It has been estimated that there are currently enough clothes in circulation to clothe the next 6 generations. We have a huge problem with global textile waste, especially since the advent of fast fashion online shopping. Pop up Shops and Clothes swaps are a great way of extending the life of clothing and divert it from landfill and incineration. They help us in our bid to live in a more circular way.
With this in mind, Monaghan County Council are pleased to offer a kit, free to borrow for communities in County Monaghan. The kit consists of four heavy duty clothing rails and a guide to running your event. We also have available 3 rails that would accommodate debs/formal/wedding dresses.
