How long have you worked at Monaghan town Library? I’ve worked in Monaghan Town Library for over 14 years, having started in Monaghan Library Headquarters a few years before that.

What is your role in the library? I’m the Executive Librarian in Monaghan Town Library, responsible for the management and delivery of the day-today running of the branch, with the support of an excellent library team. We work together to develop the delivery and promotion of an innovative programme of events, which includes literacy supports, through developing strong links with our local education sector. This currently includes our Summer Stars Initiative, under the Right to Read Programme, which continues to promote children’s literacy and reading development over the Summer months, as well as various other initiatives throughout the year. Another important part of my role is to co-ordinate stock selection, ensuring an excellent and good balance of stock, something which we are all very proud of.

What is your favorite part about working in a library? My favourite part of working in the library is how satisfied our customers are with the excellent free services we have on offer and how hard the staff work daily as a team towards achieving this.

What was your favorite book as a child? The Secret garden by  Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Why do you think people should join their local library? Our branch is very restricted in what we can offer at present due to lack of space.  However, we are looking forward to moving into our new Library in Monaghan Town mid-2023.
