The Mr. Men and Little Miss books remain one of the most popular children’s books, with their bright colours and range of characters, we regularly see them heading out the door of the library. Our customers know where exactly to find them as Little Miss sunshine and Mr. Bump book ends mark they spot where they are kept.

Here are ten interesting facts about both series:

  1. The very first Mr. Men book was Mr. Tickle published in 1971, over 50years ago!
  2. Mr. Tickle came about after Roger Hargreaves son asked him ‘what a tickle looked like?’
  3. The characters live in a fictional place called Misterland.
  4. Little Miss Bossy was the first book in the Little Miss series, published in 1981
  5. As of 2021, there are 92 Mr Men and Little Miss books.
  6. When the first books were first sold, they cost just 15p.
  7. Roger Hargreaves had four children, Amelia and Sophie were twins and inspired the Little Miss Twins book.
  8. Roger drew his characters using a magic marker.
  9. Over a 250 million copies have been sold.
  10. The Books have been translated into 20 different languages.
